We will be studying letters in detail this year, in-shaaAllaah. For now, let's look at the letters we will be looking at (SMILE). The arrangement of letters are of two categories: Al Huroof Al Abjadiyyah and Al Huroof Al Hijaa'iyyah. Research the distinction between the two categories. If possible, provide the history behind the arrangements.
Have fun!

Here's abjad-hawaz and alif-baa-taa-thaa:

Maybe I'll be teaching abjad-hawaz when I get my ijaazah (smirk)!

Ok! Besides the order of the letters, there is one other major distinction between the huroof al abjadiyyah and hijaa'iyyah. One might be considered an ancient form of writing and the other more modern. (Well, as far back as "modern" can go, anyway.) What is that difference between these two sets of letters?
In-shaaAllaah! SMILE!
